Allysha Goes To School

Last Thursday was Allysha's first day of school at the Nuh's Ark Montessori. I took a few days off to monitor her at school. She was all excited for the first day; not knowing that she's going to be there on her own. Initially, hubby and I decided to stay at the school until the session ends but the principal asked us to leave immediately to make things easier. We drive back to school twice to peep on her but the school gate are closed.

It's my first day of school yo!

She insisted wearing the tudung until we picked her up.

Anyway, according to the teacher, she cried for a while after we left but she was well behaved the rest of the session. Only cried when we picked her up at the end of the session. Sayula tuh...

She cried when she saw us!

Tired....

The second day, the crying prolong since other kids cried too. I kinda anticipated it.

The third day, she cried when hubby tried to put on her uniform and had to bribe her with princessy stuff from 7E.

The fourth day, she asked us to take her to breakfast first before going to school.

And...today...she refused to go to school.

Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

Still suka dengan mende-mende yang seumpama dengannya

She just can't leave the house without her arm candy. The Guess handbag used to be mine. A present from my sisters in year 2000. What's inside? Her bottle, pen, pencil and a small note book.

Her fave! Writing (that's what she claimed), or rather ermmm.. scribbling. Yela, melentur buluh biarla dari rebungnya. Haha. Actually, she develop that habit on her own. Tak pernah ada sape-sape yang suruh pon. Anyways, I'll show this picture to her kalau dah sekolah nanti malas nak belaja :)

And...kalau makan kat mane-mane and bile lalu kat tempat jual ice cream kat supermarket dah pandai ask for akim (ice-cream).

As I'm choosing pictures for my mom to print out her pictures, suddenlly I realised that nowadays dah tak banyak gambar Allysha. Rugi! Cos ade banyak sangat moments yang best-best. So, from now on, have to make a mental note that we have to capture as much pics as we can!

On Allysha - Random Thoughts

1. Allysha is now 1 year and 9 months. Makin cute, bam bam and picking up things really fast. Her vocab dah bertambah-tambah and she often amazes us with new words and short sentences.

2. Allysha's current favourite is now write, draw, colour, and read . Well, all in her own way. I practically had to stuff my handbag with her books and pens and colouring set everywhere because she's always asking for it.

3. And oh, another favourite of her since we got back from our Umrah, she's really manja with Daddy. Semua pon nak Daddy. It's a blessing for me actually, Mummy can enjoy Mummy's much needed rest. Thank you so much Lica for understanding Mummy :)

4. She's obsessed with 'I Love You' song by Barney and she can actually sing along and dance to the song. Sometimes, in the car she will demand 'Nak Lagu!' and if she likes the song, she'll dance and sing (siap guna tangan buat mic olok-olok lagi!)

5. She has a thing for handbags. Ke mana tumpahnye kuah kalau tak ke nasi, kan? Yay, another excuse for Mummy to buy more designer handbags!

6. Suka ikut orang solat. Pandai takbiratul ihram. Tangan at the right position. Mulut kumat-kamit kononnya recite. Pandai rukuk n even sujud. Last week Atok even commented "Alimnye cucu atok" :)

7. She really brings joy to our life and sometimes, when she's not with us, our day can be dull and boring. We love, love, love her so much. Syukur Alhamdulillah for blessing us with her.

Lica’s vocabulary had improved tremendously these days. She can voice out everything she wants and she will repeat her request until she gets it. It’s really hard not to fulfil her wishes since she made it so clear.

Favourites
Music and dancing has always been her favourite. She love, love, love the Kalau Berpacaran song. When she's in the mood to dance, we will have to repeat the song in the youtube; especially by CikShidaDariParit - her utmost fave. She even sing along (the part 'lama' and 'mama') Her second fave is the I Love You song by Barney. Sometimes, rasa macam nak muntah because we have to repeat the vids at least for half an hour. But since she love it so much I guess I'll just have to bear with her :)

Physical Development
Allysha's getting taller and of course chubbier too. She lost about 600g last month due to the hospitalisation. During the follow-up at the hospital she weigh 12.3kg (she gained almost 1kg!) and we'll see how much she'll gain this month. And, she had outgrown most of her clothes and now, we are slowly replenish her wardrobe.
Her hair is also getting longer (and prettier, of course) and I've realised that her hair shade to brown.

We Are Three

This year marked our Third Anniversary.

This year, we had quite a unique celebration. But, it doesn't matter. The most important thing is, we had Allysha with us.

Hubby got me three presents this year.

First, I got my dream phone. I've been bugging dear hubby everyday until I got it. Well, that's me. Selagi tak dapat, hari-hari dok berzikir kat hubby.

Second, I bought a breadmaker and later claimed it from hubby. A few success stories in making my own bread and kaya. Later-later will share it here.

Third, a bling-bling! Love this the most. I can pass it down to Allysha :)

However, to me the best gifts are my dearest hubby who are always by my side and of course our precious lil' princess. Syukur Alhamdulillah...

We started carseat training Allysha rather late. It was last week. Cuak jugak. Who knows, she might hate it.

Alhamdulillah, she cried only for a few minutes and amazingly, she actually love her carseat.

Since we got her the carseat, travelling is much, much easier.

If you can only have one LV, what would be your choice?

I can't seem to make up my mind. Semua pon cantek! After spending more than one hour at the KLCC boutique, I found something that I really like.

Masalahnya, not one but three!!

Most of the pages I referred in the web suggest either Speedy or Neverfull. Neverfull, is a no-no. Speedy, I'll save that for future purchase.

Trevi is definitely my first choice though hubby said that the design is makcik-like. For me it's classic and elegant.

As for Sistina, i love it too but it might be a hassle getting in and out of the bag. Plus, the buckle might have some fine scratches lama-lama nanti.

For Her

My baby sister is going to be snatched away in about 30 days.
She’s getting married to a man that she loves to bits.

It's a mixed feelings for me.

I’m all happy for her but deep inside I’m also sad. Since I got married I can sense the distance between my sisters and I. There's only the three of us and we used to hang out together, share gossips and even wear each other's clothes (I can no longer fit in theirs'. Haha!) Gosh! How I miss the good old days... And, now she's getting married too and I hope that we can still be as close as we can.

And, my dad. Only God knows how my dad feels about this. She’s my dad’s favourite, my dad’s sweetheart and will always be his little girl. She’s his everything. I'm pretty sure he'll feel as if a big chunk of his life is missing.

Eversince my dad starts his treatment - be it at KPJS or PCMC; mom, Anyah and my baby sister will always be with him. She will discuss with doctors about dad's condition, the best treatments, the medications etc. She will sometimes scold the doctor, you know! But, that, makes her even more special. That's my baby sister.

Baby sister, pls try to accomodate your time for him - as much as you can. Kuyah will love it tremendously. I'm sure he will need some time to adjust the fact that he need to share you with someone else now.

So, future BIL, you better take great care of her cos we really, really love her!

To Chikabi, I wish you all the best in your new journey. Be the superwife, superdaughter and supermom that you want to be. If you need any tips, ask Kumak for it cos she's the sum of all the super-thing in the whole world.

P/S : That reminds me that I need to pay Aunty Irene a visit ASAP! Or else, I’ll be wearing any baju that fits me on her big day.

This year, we celebrated hari Raya at Negeri Sembilan. Hubby's turn this year. We are lucky that our kampungs is just a mere half an hour away from each other.

Much to my dissapointment, there were no proper Hari Raya pictures for the three of us. Told dear hubby that we need to visit a photo studio one of these days to get our family potrait done.

These pictures were taken on 1st of August during my family's visit to Shah Alam. Allysha was kept busy from am to pm. She loves outing so much, not a problem for her at all.

As early as 9am, we took her to Pasar Stadium Shah Alam. As expected, she detest that place. Reason? Too hot and crowded.

Later, we met my family at Jakel. Mom needed to find some fabrics for my sis upcoming wedding.

Lica was happy! Cozy lounge with air-cond; that's what she likes.

Allysha's Mak Dora had moved to her gorgeous white house. Since there were no Astro yet at that time, we need to think of something to do. So I suggested a picnic. It will be fun plus we will have lots of good food to enjoy.

At Last!!

Sometime last week, Allysha dah tumbuh gigi. A few days away from her 10 months birthday baru nak nampak gigi. Comel betul! Tapi kan, kedekut betul nak tunjuk gigi die yang kiut miut tuh. Only when Allysha senyum beria-ria and nangis je nampak. Susah nak ambik gambar. Masa senyum tak dapat nak ambik sebab nak enjoy puas-puas tengok senyum Allysha yang sangat menawan (to me!!). Masa nangis, melampaula pulak Mummy gi berkejar ambik camera.

See...I asked her to show me her teeth and instead she gave me her sweetest smile. Terus kene stop jap and kisss ini budak. Tell me how nak ambik gamba?

Since dah tau yang the cap finally showing, banyak kali mintak kat Allysha tunjuk gigi. I even begged her! At last, masa check balik gambar kat camera, terselit satu gambar candid yang rupa-rupanya nampak gigi.

Sunday, nampak satu lagi gigi yang nak tumbuh kat bahagian atas. Nih, memang tak dapat nak capture. Juga, tak dapat nak dipastikan which one came first, lower or upper. Yang penting Allysha dah ada gigi. :)

Best Ever Chocolate Cake Recipe

Remember the chocolate cake that my family really love?

I got the recipe from here. My sister and I had tried another cake recipe and boy, it was yummy. For all chocolate lovers, this is a must try.

THE RECIPE
Bahan A
1 cawan serbuk koko
1 cawan susu cair
1 cawan minyak masak/mentega cair
1 cawan gula castor
1/2 cawan susu pekat manis

Bahan B
1 1/4 cawan tepung gandum
1 sudu teh soda bikarbonat
1 sudu teh serbuk penaik

Bahan C
3 biji telur

Cara-caranya

Semua bahan A dimasukkan ke dalam periuk dan dipanaskan sebentar sehingga gula larut. Tutup dan sejukkan bahan ini.

Pukul bahan C hingga kembang. Masukkan ke dalam bahan A. Kaup balik hingga bahan C bercampur serata dengan bahan A.

Tepung gandum + soda + serbuk penaik dicampur dan diayak. Kemudian sedikit demi sedikit masukkan ke dalam adunan coklat tadi sambil dikaupbalikkan hingga serata.

Tutup bekas kek dengan aluminium foil - untuk mengelakkan air dari menitik ke atas permukaan kek. Kukus selama 1 jam @ sehingga kek masak.

TOPPING COKLAT

Bahan-bahan:
250 g coklat masakan } potong kecil2
1 sudu besar majerin
130 ml double cream atau whipping cream
sedikit gula halus secukup rasa (supaya topping tu tak pahit sgt) - optional
* in my case, I just used cooking choc and whipping cream

Cara membuat:

Cairkan coklat secara double-boiler Alihkan dr api kemudian masukkan majerin, gula & cream Kacau sehingga sebati. Curahkan atas kek kemudian ratakan Bila dah agak sejuk/beku baru boleh lorekkan dgn garpu secara melintang dan menegak selang seli.

Happy 10 months Birthday, Lica

My Allysha is 10 months old today. It seems like only yesterday I gave birth to her. I can still remember how afraid I was to hold her in my arms. She was only 2.6 kg despite my big, big belly. And now, she’s a big girl. Growing really fast and I don’t have the privilege to watch her grow every single day. Weekends are super precious to me since that’s the only time that I spend time with her.

Thanks to Allah, as if Allysha knows that dear Mummy only get to see her during weekend she always choose weekends to show her skills firsthand to us. Not all but it’s enough for both hubby and me. And, I’m ever so thankful to my family for having Allysha at my parents’ and loving her wholeheartedly. Thank you so much everyone! I can never thank them enough.

One the other note, Allysha is not well. Having flu since last week and mild fever; one and off. Everyone was saying that Allysha nak besar and macam-macam dia tengah nak belajar. Really, her nine months milestones is super duper awesome I tell you. That girl really somethinglah! Yesterday, my sister brought her to the clinic and guess what. She’s already 9.3 kg and I’m pretty sure it should be more than that if not because of the flu. That explains my backache :)

Secretly, I’m actually hoping that she’s not growing at a fast pace so that I can take part in her every milestones and able to document every bits of it. I know that’s impossible but I’m trying my best. My very best.

Anyway, to my precious little princess, Happy 10 Months Birthday!

Baaa....Chak!

Last week, we discovered that Allysha knows how to tackle the game of Baa..Chak! I had indentified a few series of that game by her. Some of it includes:

Game #1
She took my tudung. Cover her head and in seconds she uncovers it back. Lepas tuh, senyum-senyum, gelak-gelak sambil cakap-cakap sampai mata sepet. Then, she repeat the sequence.

Game #2
Meniarap sambil both her hands pegang my knee (I’m in a sitting position kat atas lantai), then Allysha lift her head. Again, senyum-senyum, gelak-gelak sambil cakap-cakap sampai mata sepet. Then, she repeat the sequence.

Game #3
Tutup muka with both her hands for a few seconds, and bukak balik and senyum-senyum excited. Also, sambil buat bunyi-bunyian yang comel.

Too bad I didn’t managed to capture it on video. Excited sangat I guess sampai terlupa. I'll try to remember this weekend..a must!

Allysha's Favourite Treasure

The blue thingy. My mom labels it as a family's treasure. Allysha love it so much and it can really cheer her up and stop her from crying. Ok, the fact that my mom's favourite little munchkin love it terribly qualifies it to be called treasure and secondly, we can't find it anywhere else. The ones that are available nowadays are a bit smaller and the finishing edges can be quite rough. I'm not mistaken, the basket had served our family as laundry basket for more than 10 years.

So, mom made the decision the keep it in the store once Allysha doesn't need it anymore. Just in case her future granddaughthers/sons have the same liking! It will saves us a lot. There's no need to get a playpen.

The laundry basket has became her favourite item since she learnt how to stand on her own; since she was seven months old. Wherever Allysha goes, the basket follows. Even when it took most of the space in the car!

Best Ever Chocolate Cake

I’m not a good baker. But I certainly can cook (at least hubby thinks so). That matters most kan?

Last weekend, my family came to Shah Alam and since we don’t have any outing plans, I decided to bake (or in my case, I steamed it) with the help of Allysha’s favourite Mak Su Beby and Mak Long Mira.

As my sister wrote in her blog, everyone was a bit sceptical with the idea; yelah..I'm not a good baker. It might turn out so-so and worst; maybe tak jadi langsung. But still, I really, really wanted to try the recipe because of the rave review at the website.

This recipe is definitely a keeper. It has the simplest ingredients, easy peasy and of course delicious. The cake was chocolatey and moist. It certainly fits my family's defination of a good chocolate cake.

Everyone was crazy about this cake. It finished overnight. That's my personal record!

Now, everyone is bugging me to prepare the cake again. And, my mom and I are on a big mission - armed with this cake's recipe. Wish us luck!

Anyway, one of my favourite is the 'Butterfly' theme. I was thinking nak pakaikan Allysha kepak macam butterfly tuh, but I'm not sure whether she'll be able to walk or not at that time. So, to be on the safe side, I'll safe this idea for the next birthday party.

Buah delima is salah satu food yang I mengidam masa mengandungkan Allysha dulu. Not that I nih jenis yang mengidam yang macam-macam and susah nak dapat. Semua yang senang-senang and dekat-dekat je. Alhamdulillah, masa mengandungkan Allysha banyak perkara dipermudahkan. Allysha pon sampai sekarang memang baik, memudahkan sesiapa yang menjaganya. Kalau tak silap, yang paling jauh pon nak makan asam pedas kat Banda Hilir, Melaka tuh je. Terbaik punya asam pedas. As I’m typing this, terliur rasanya.

Masa teringin buah delima tuh, it was not in season. I actually found once kat Cold Storage Alamanda tapi postponed nak beli kemudian. Bila datang balik, dah takde. Kecewa betul masa tuh. Nasib baik my mom tak jemu-jemu carikan jugak. At last jumpa kat kedai buah MBG kat Shah Alam. Mahal betul. Kalau tak silap sebijik dekat-dekat RM20. Katanya from Spain ke mane entah and supposedly memang yang terbaik. My mom bought two at that time. She bought it again after that and I had the chance to eat it until the day before I delivered. Sedap and juicy.

I told my mom and my sisters that buah delima memang bagus. I pernah terbaca somewhere that for pregnant moms yang kurang darah buah delima boleh tambahkan darah. Why not kan, lagi elok daripada makan hati ayam or organ-organ dalaman yang lain.

I found something interesting from a site but I can’t remember the source sebab I copied it to my pc. Dalam Al Quran sendiri ada menyebut tentang kebaikan buah delima ni.

Buah delima adalah salah satu buah yang terdapat di dalam syurga yang kaya dengan unsur zat besi sebagaimana firman Allah: (Q:55:6)

Maksudnya :"Pada keduanya juga terdapat buah-buahan serta pohon-pohon kurma dan delima. Buah delima atau dari segi saintifiknya Punica granatum mempunyai pelbagai keistimewaan, selain dari sedap dimakan ,ia juga mempunyai kebaikan dari segi kesihatan.Zat besi yang terdapat dalam buah delima dianggap sebagai unsur penting dalam pembentukan darah merah. Seseorang yang kekurangan zat besi akan mengalami penyakit anemia. Dengan hanya sebiji buah delima mampu memberi khasiat yang banyak kepada kita. Buah Delima mempunyai kadar antioksidan yang paling tinggi diantara buah-buahan yang lain.

Delima, sejenis buah lain yang disebutkan di dalam Al-Qur`an, mengandung potassium yang besar volumenya, selain dari mineral-mineral lain seperti fosfor, kalsium, besi, dan sodium, dan vitaman-vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, dan C. Bereaksi bersama sodium, potassium mengatur ekuilibrium air tubuh dan menjaga detak jantung agar tetap normal..(bagi ibu dan perkembangan fetusnya). Dengan memelihara keseimbangan kadar potassium-sodium, buah ini juga menunjang kepekaan saraf dan otot agar berfungsi secara teratur( kajian mendapati rahim wanita lebih utuh/kuat sesuai dengan kepekaan nya menunjang pergerakan bayi yg dikandung) , mencegah edema, dan mengurangi kadar gula yang beredar di dalam darah ( ibu yang baru pertama kali mengandung atau lebih dari 3 kali ). Delima menghilangkan rasa letih otot dan memungkinkannya bergerak dengan mudah,dan juga menguatkan jantung.

Lain-lain kebaikan delima juga:

- menghalang pembentukan sel kanser

- mencantikkan kulit

- mencegah dari nyanyuk

- memberi tenaga

- elok untuk pesakit tekanan darah tinggi dan rendah

- sistem penghadaman

- mengurangkan berat badan

- prevent morning sickness untuk orang mengandung

- memperelokkan rahim

So, for all mommy-to-be and those who wanted to benefit from buah delima nih, bolehla amalkannya. It’s quite big and satu biji actually can last long.

Laura Calder's Cream Apple Tart Recipe

Hubby was working pretty late last night and I had the chance to watch my fave channel on Astro; the AFC!

I was lucky indeed because French Food At Home is on Air. I just love the gorgeous Laura Calder, the food she prepared, and the ambience of her kitchen ( someone wrote in her blog that the kitchen featured in that show was her producer's).

Anyways, back to last night's show. Laura prepared a scrumptious dessert and seems pretty easy to prepare. I sort of remember some of the ingredients used but then again, when I start to jot down the recipe I realized I didn't actually remember all of it.

And, much to my delight when I was reading the paper today, i saw the recipe!!! So, here it goes. For my record whenever I decide to try it.

Tat Krim Epal

Bahan-bahannya:

Kulit Tat
1/2 cawan mentega
1/3 cawan gula
1/2 sudu teh vanila
1 cawan tepung gandum

Inti krim
1 biji telur
1/2 sudu teh vanila
8 aun keju krim - dilembutkan
1/4 cawan gula

Topping
3 biji epal; dikupas kulit dan dihiris nipis
1/4 cawan gula
1/2 sudu teh serbuk kulit kayu manis
1/4 cawan kepingan badan atau walnut; dicincang

Cara Membuat:

Untuk tat - panaskan ketuhar hingga 200 darjah celcius. Pukul hingga lembut mentega dan gula. Masukkan vanila. kemudian masukkan tepung dan gaul dengan hujung jari hingga adunan menjadi seeprti serbuk roti.
Tekan doh ke dalam acuan setinggi 2.5cm. Bakar selama 15 minit; hingga keperangan. Keluarkan daripada ketuhar.
Untuk inti krim - pukul semua bahan sehingga gebu. Tuang ke atas doh tadi. Sementara itu, tabur serbuk kulit kayu manis, gula dan walnut di atas epal.
Untuk bahagian atas - Susun kepingan epal di atas krim dan taburkan dengan kepingan badam. Bakar sehingga epal lembut dan keperangan selama 40 minit.

Planning Allysha’s Birthday Party : The List

It’s never too early to plan for Allysha’s 1st Birthday Party. After all, it will be the benchmark. I, personally want her party to be intimate and inexpensive with invites to be restricted to family and close friends only. However, coincidently her birthday would be during Ramadhan and we have to postpone the party until Syawal. Since we need to hold an open house as well, it would be cost saving to combine both. But gosh, it cracks my brain to plan an event which incorporates both.

I’ve been surfing related sites and I found a lot of interesting stuffs and it changes most of my initial plans. I have to keep in mind that Allysha is only one year old and she won’t appreciate extravagance and simple things would be sufficient. I plan to DIY whatever I can, to make it meaningful, for me and Allysha.

I started by listing the major items, which is:

1. Party theme – the hardest to decide!
2. Party deco
3. Who to invite
4. Invitation Cards
5. Timing – maybe it will take max. 1-1 ½ hours for her party. Toddlers can get restless easily.
6. Venue – our taska; outdoor!
7. Food
8. Games/activities
9. Party Bags n Thank You Cards
10. Photographer
11. Videographer

So far, that’s the only thing that came across my mind. Along the way, I’ll try to keep my list updated.

Again, I’ve always forgot to jot down Allysha’s milestones. Here it goes although I’m so sure that there’s a lot more. To my sisters, please add anything you can think of.

I just love watching her sleep..

• She’s more talkative now – babbles a lot!
• She knows how to hold her own bottles
• Whenever she’s hungry for milk, she will look for her bottle, take it, drink, and put it back when she’s had enough
• Dah merangkak; pretty fast sampai memang kene monitor all the time

See! Pantang nampak remote Astro. Remote lain taknak.

• Dah lebih pandai main with all her toys; although her all time favorite toy is still handphones (nak yang baru n slim saje pulak tuh esp BB) and astro’s remote control. And oh, she loves tissue boxes too!
• Dah pandai responds to us using her own voice
• Reaches for objects with one hand
• Dah boleh passing-passing object from one hand to another
• Kalau sorok something that she wants in front of her, die mesti tau and carik. Even in between pillows! Tau je layer mane pulak tuh. Clever girl!
• Dan pandai ask for attention. Nanti Allysha akan buat-buat batuk sampaila orang tu pandang or talk to her
• Pandai main pok amai-amai (or was it masa 6 months? Can’t really remember)
• Pandai main ca-ce-kop (ala..yang genggam tangan tuh..)
• Suka peek-a-boo
• Pandai buat Hi-5! (nih Mak Su Beby yang ajar!)
• Her first swimming pool experience
• Bertatih with assistance
• Suka sangat outings – kalau ade yang pakai tudung mesti die excited semacam and mintak dukung. For sure takkan lepaskan org tuh sampai dah masuk kereta
• She knows and recognizes people more – tau je orang yang selalu die tengok and tak. Dislike strangers. Contoh: macam my dad yang slalu balik lambat. Once Allysha Nampak Atok, mesti mintak dukung and tak nak orang lain ambik. Macam tau-tau je satu hari tak jumpa Atok.
• Pandai ambik hati!
• Although there are signs macam nak tumbuh gigi, tapi until now nothing!
• Likes to be hugged. Time tido pon suke orang peluk. Suke golek-golek and tido dekat-dekat ngan Daddy (Wan Ibu tuh dah wajiblah..)

One Year Older, Another Year Wiser

Monday was my birthday. Am getting older but alhamdulillah, happier. The day started off pretty bad since I was unwell. At noon, after feeling much better, I bought a cake and KFC for hubby's staffs. Coincidently, I shared birthday with the daughter of a staff. I immediately told her that we can celebrate her birthday as well. She was so happy and called her daughter. She even sang birthday song for her dear daughter. Happy Birthday Putri!

The birthday cake. At first I regretted for not buying Secret Recipe's cake, but everybody loved it; including me. The one and only birthday cake for me.

Later that night hubby treated me dinner at Bubba Gump, Sunway Pyramid. It's our first time here and it was love at first sight. We love everything here. Everything was almost perfect : the ambience, the food, the service, the company. But, it would be perfect if Allysha was there to celebrate my birthday.

The signs on the table. Run Forrest Run if everything is OK and Stop Forrest Stop if we need their attention. It seems to work really well since were were attended almost immediately after we put the Stop sign. We like it:)

Our garlic bread. Mama Gump Garlic Bread. Really nice. We should have ordered a soup to compliments it. Next time, next time.

And, for drink, hubby ordered Mango Sparkler. Nice. He even asked for a refill which cost him additional RM2.90. For me? Just plain hot water. Another 4 months to go and then I can indulge myself in those too! Allysha, cepat sikit besar ye :)

The BBQ Beef Back Ribs. Two thumbs up! U guys MUST order this whenever you dine at Bubba Gump. Enough for 2-3 people. I bet my mom will surely love this.

I can't really remember what this is called. It was Run Across America (kot?). Hubby's choice. It was ok. But our favourite is the spinach dip. Sedappp. There were nachos, chicken strips, shrimp and...shrimp!

We actually ordered Bread Pudding for dessert but we cancelled it since we were so full. We still have some leftovers. What we have ordered was actually enough to feed 4 pax. It's in HUGE portion!

This time, I think I scored 9/10 in ordering (for first timer). It was a very satisfying meal and we will definitely come back for more.

We then went shopping for my birthday presents. Due to the limited time, hubby still owes me 2 more presents. Daddy, bile nak pegi beli nih?

Mo'Men finally open its doors in Shah Alam!

Mo'Men at night..perfect for hang-out. They have several LCD tvs and

big screen outside the restaurant.

I love the paper bag and the plastic bag. Really different from other fast food chains. And..the paper bag is sturdy too.

Apart from the above, they also have other sandwiches, salad, rice, cheese cake, choc cake muffins etc.

Overall, I would say that it's a value for money - delicious, big portion, nice ambience (altho I'm kinda expecting a much nicer deco). For first timers, pls do not forget to order the philly cheese steak sandwich.

After Allysha's 'driving lesson', we found Baby Ambrosia right in front of the car. They sell freshly made baby and toddler meals. Quite expensive considering the amount of the meals. For Allysha's it cost us about RM6.00+. I can't recall the exact price. We opted for Purees; For Combination and is meant for 6 months+.

We bought it at The Gardens but they are also located at other outlets such as The Curve and other locations. Visit their website for more info :).

Since Allysha love vege so much, I chose the Vegetable Medley which consists of carrot, potato, leek, herbs and homemade vege stock. I tried on some and I like the taste :)

This proved that Allysha love it. She opens her mouth willingly. I fed her half of the container altho she wanted some more.

A Fabulous Weekend

Before jalan-jalan, mesti cari makan dulu. Ini kat Bangkok House, De Palma Hotel Shah Alam. Faktor utama pilih Bangkok House : tempat sejuk n dekat ngan umah mama. The food, so-so je.

Allysha was such a good girl. She slept in her car seat all the way to Mid Valley - we were stuck in jam for an hour and another half an hour finding valet parking. All full except for Boulevard Hotel. We had to pretend as hotel guest to get the valet parking there.

Allysha was so excited and she wanted to get out of the stroller to explore the place in her own way; merangkak.

Happy!!

It’s been awhile…

I’ve been so busy lately, juggling in between work and our latest project –Project TCC. Ya Allah, I can’t even put in words how exhausted we were and still are!). Hopefully it will be well paid off. InsyaAllah..

And…I can’t believe that I didn’t even post Allysha’s 6 months old pictures yet! She’s already 7 months old last Tuesday and still no entries on that. Bad Mummy!!

The Not So Easy Peasy Lasagna

After postponing after one week to another to cook the lasagna, at last I did it on Sunday. Leceh, but; it was worth it!

Rasa macam nak masak lagi looking at this photo.

I terbuat extra white sauce. Anyah suruh letak some on the top. Tasted even better!

Alhamdulillah, it was a hit at home. Maybe next time I'll substitute the lasagna sheets with macaroni and top it with mashed potato and lotss of cheese.

The recipe was originally from a cooking class at my office. However, I've changed here and there according to whatever I have in my mom's pantry. Here's the recipe; copied from the original recipe.

Lazzy Lasagna

Bahan-Bahan

1 kotak lasagna - pre cook

Sos Merah

Bahan-Bahan

3 ulas bawang putih - dicincang
2 labu bawang besar - dicincang
3 biji tomato (saiz besar) - direndam dlm air panas dan dicincang
1 tin kecil tomato paste
4 sudu makan sos tomate (my mom didn't have any - suprisingly! I add in half bottle of prego sauce)
1 batang lobak merah - dipotong kiub/cincang
2 batang celery - dipotong kiub/cincang
1 biji capsicum - dipotong kiub kasar
250 g daging cincang (i used 500g)
oregano secukupnya
air/stok daging jika perlu
minyak zaitun secukupnya
garam secukup rasa

Cara-Cara

1. Panaskan kuali, masukkan minyak zaitun
2. Tumiskan bawang putih dan bawang besar
3. Masukkan semua jenis tomato dan sayuran
4. Masukkan daging, oregano dan garam
5. Biarkan didih dan sehingga masak. Pastikan tidak terlalu lama kering. Ketepikan.

Sos Putih (Bechamel Sauce)

Bahan-Bahan

125 g butter
2 sudu besar minyak zaitun
3 1/2 sudu besar tepung
1 tin cendawan butang - dihiris
1 kiub stok daging ( i don't have it; i used stok daging instead)
1 liter susu segar segar (dipanaskan/suam)
100 g keju mozarella

Cara-Cara

1. Panaskan pan. Masukkan minyak zaitun dan cairkan bersama butter
2. Masukkan keju mozarella
3. Masukkan susu panas dan kiub stok. Kacau hingga pekat dan masukkan cendawan. Biarkan 5 minit dan ketepikan.

Tips: I soak the lasagna sheets in hot water for about 5 minutes first. Hasilnya, lasagna yang lembut!

Finally. Allysha had her first solid on Saturday for her tea cum dinner. She had pureed fish and vege porridge. She loved it! Sedapla agaknye tuh :)

Viral Conjunctivitis

That's what Allysha is having since Monday.

It's also called 'Pink Eye'. I guess it was because of the redness covering the whites of the eyes. Apart from the redness, she also had swollen eyelids and runny nose.

We actually have been consulted by two peadiatric and an ophthalmologist in my hometown but her condition were getting worse. We got an appointment with this one Paediatric Ophthalmologist at ISEC. However, we can only see him on Monday and that's waaay too late. We were getting really worried and thanks to my baby sis, she googled and found out that the doctor is a visiting Ophthalmologist; Dr Choong at Gleneagles Ampang. She called up the Emergency Department and confirmed that he's on call for this week. I guess it's all Allysha's luck and rezeki.

So, we went to Gleneagles and she was warded and treated by Dr Choong. Upon his consultation, we were soo relieved. He explained about the infection and how the treatment would be. He changed Allysha's prescription and that evening, her eyes were getting much better. He's really one good doctor. Highly recommended by us.

Mata Allysha sepet sebelah. This is actually after the treatment at Gleaneagles. Getting better even though still red and swollen. Unfortunately, I don't have Allysha's picture before the treatment. Kalau tak, bolehla compare.

There's one thing that I would like to convey to everybody who's having babies and toddlers. Please just stay put at home. It seems that there's an outbreak of the virus that causes 'pink eye'. To make thing worse, it's highly contagious. After Allysha, three of my family members got it too; including her Daddy as well.

One thing that we are really, really thankful is that she's still drinks her milk as usual (and sometimes even more), as active as ever and we even introduce her to solid yesterday!

Feeding Baby

Allysha is going to be 6 months old in a few weeks. We are planning to start giving her solid food in about 2 or three weeks more. But I’m still contemplating whether to let her try pureed porridge or rice cereal first. I’m worried once she tried the rice cereal she will refuse to eat porridge. Personally, I prefer to let her enjoy home-cooked meal. I will be assured that she will get all the nutrients she need.

I’ve googled some information on solid food for babies as a guideline for me. I'm so glad I found this!!

• start solids sometime between 4-6 months, once your baby is showing signs of being ready and can eat from a spoon

• an iron fortified rice cereal is usually the first solid food that your baby should eat

• experiment to find the best time to feed your baby solids, for example before, after, or at a separate time from formula or breastfeeding

• to easily detect food allergies, only give one new, single ingredient food at a time, and wait 3-4 days before introducing another.

• begin with just a teaspoon or less when you are first introducing solids and then slowly increase to a tablespoon or more as your baby gets the hang of eating solid foods

• after rice cereal, consider moving on to other cereals, like oatmeal and barley, and then introduce strained vegetables, fruits and lastly, meats

• continue to offer your baby an iron fortified cereal even after you introduce other solid foods, as it is a good source of iron or your growing infant

• talk to your Pediatrician if your baby won't eat any solids by the time he is 7-8 months old

Foods to Avoid

Just as important as knowing when to start each food, you should know which baby foods to avoid during your baby's first year, including:

• honey (botulism risk)

• egg whites (food allergy risk)

• homemade baby food made with beets, carrots, collard greens, spinach, and turnips (high nitrate levels)

• cow's milk (no iron and not tolerated as well as breastmilk or baby formula)

• foods that are a choking hazard

Vitamins

Does your baby need vitamins?

Everyone needs vitamins. The real question is does your baby need extra vitamins that he isn't getting from the foods he is eating?

Your baby needs:

• iron, which he can get from an iron-fortified baby cereal and later, other iron rich foods

• fluoride, which he can get from drinking fluoridated water, keeping in mind that most brands of bottled water are not fluoridated

• vitamin D, which he can get from baby formula, although exclusively breastfeeding babies will need a vitamin D supplement

As you get ready to start your baby on iron-fortified rice cereal -- her first baby food -- it is a good idea to know which foods you should avoid in her first year.

This foods include:

Honey

• Experts advise that you should not feed honey to infants under 12 months of age. The spores of the Clostridium botulinum bacteria can sometimes be found in honey. When ingested by an infant, the spores can release a toxin that causes botulism.

• Parents should also likely avoid other foods that contain honey in them, such as Honey Graham Crackers, Honey Nut Cheerios or Honey Wheat Bread. Although the honey in these foods may be processed, it may not be pasteurized, so they may still contain botulism spores.

Egg Whites

• Because they are considered an 'allergy food,' infants should avoid egg whites until they are twelve months old. If you like, you can usually introduce egg yolks at around seven to ten months old though.

• If your child is at high-risk for allergies, you might want to avoid eggs until he is 2 years old though.

Homemade Baby Food and Nitrates

• This is only an issue for parents who make their own baby food from fresh vegetables, but they should avoid feeding their baby homemade food with beets, carrots, collard greens, spinach, and turnips. These vegetables can sometimes have high levels of nitrates, a chemical that can cause low blood counts (anemia).

• Commercial baby food is usually screened for their nitrate levels. So, when considering these specific vegetables, it should be safer.

Milk

• Experts usually recommend that breast milk or an iron-fortified infant formula are best for babies. Parents should avoiding substituting either of those with homemade baby formula, such as you might make with evaporated milk, cow's milk, soy milk (which is much different than an iron-fortified soy formula), or even goat's milk.

I'm Still Growing

But only my feet though. And I hate it. Really hate it.

I used to be size 6. During pregnancy, due to edema it grows until size 9!

And now, after 5 months giving birth I’m stuck in between size 7 and 8. The result, I still haven’t found any comfy working shoes. I’ve tried all kinds of shoe shop; from the no brand shops to the upscale boutiques. It’s really frustrating!

Believe it or not I’m currently wearing crocs to office. So inappropriate but yet that’s my best option so far (and i like it! So comfy) . For meetings, I’ll just wear a pair of black wedges that I got from Singapore 2 years back. But still, I think it should be a half size bigger.

I’m desperate to find a pair of comfy, smart and corporate looking shoes. Help me out!!

Happy 5 Months Old!

Mummy told me that I’m 5 months old today. It’s less than a month till I get to eat solid. I simply can’t wait! I can’t help but to overheard others’ conversation about planning my meal. Nom..nom..nom. I bet it will be yummehh. Actually Mummy already bought something for me to eat but since Aunty Paed instructed Mummy to wait for a few weeks more, I guess I’ll have to wait.

See! I’m dressed like a grown-up. Mak D’s La Bamba dress, birdie tights and a white bolero to complete the look (tho it looked like a cardigan on me).

Yesterday, I had another jab. I cried a little bit only. But that’s because I was interrupted when busy talking to Mak Su Baby. I can bear the pain already . But anyway, Mummy asked me to update everyone on my development. I’m already 7.08 kg and 64cm tall. How am I doing? Aunty Paed said that so far so good. I’m one healthy baby.

I’m 7.08kg heavier!

And oh, before I forget, I’ve started to move forward! I lifted my bum-bum and used both legs to bring myself forward. I can’t deny that it’s a bit tiring and might shed off some of my weight tho it’s fun. I even refuse to sleep today because I want to practice. I saw Mummy took some videos and I’ll try to remind her to upload it here.

Post-Pregnancy Problems

What’s your post-pregnancy problem?

Mine, no doubt would be : Linea nigra, stretch marks and my pregnancy pouch.

The linea nigra is fading, but the fading rate is not to my liking. I remembered reading somewhere that the dark color will fade over a year. Lama tuh!! And..ade pulak yang cakap that for some mothers, it doesn’t disappear completely. I still have about 7 months to go and we’ll see whether it’s still there…

I start applying the Matern Cream whatsoever (tak ingat dah nama betul, but hubby bought it from Modernmum) and the Bio Oil religiously since I knew that I was pregnant – 5 weeks. It works, but only until about 7 months. I still remember there was this morning, I did my ritual examination in front of our huge mirror and to my horror all of sudden there’s this few lines of red stretch marks. Hancur luluh hati aku. Nak pujuk hati aku, I told myself that I’m lucky to have it. It’s some sort of pregnancy souvenir, tak semua orang ade tuh.

After 5 months, my stretch marks are getting much better. Dulu, sangatla freaking fugly! Spider web pon kalah tau. Skarang dah ok sikitla. I believe that is because the corset that I try to wear everyday and segala jadah minyak/krim yang ditepek di perut. And, lulur works wonders jugak. That reminds me, I have to schedule another session. I fully recommend this aunty. Masa lulur tuh bukan setakat gosok2 je lulur tuh. Siap massage sekali. Sakit-sakit badan, tension semua hilang. And, the best thing is : MURAH!.

I’ve seen some mothers whose tummies cepat betul flat lepas gave birth. I, unfortunately doesn’t fall into that rare category. My bidan told that it would take at least a year to get rid of the pregnancy pouch. Tapi, ade gak yang tak hilang-hilang. Mine, getting smaller tapi kalau boleh nakla macam dulu balik. Everybody’s dream, kan. Patience, patience, patience.

Maybe I should treat the problems positively. Eat right and exercise.

I know that I'm supposed to post this entry like, ages ago? I've kept in the draft for quite sometimes because I always wanted to add up something.

For hubby and I, 2009 has been one of the best years in our life.

To begin with, January. We were blessed with the most awaited moments of all. It’s the day that we knew that I’ve conceived Allysha. My god, I just can’t express my feeling. I do regret for not doing the test together with my hubby.

Hubby got another ‘baby’ for me. One of our wishlist for the year 2009.

We nearly got another property. A bigger house. But, turning down the offer was the best decision we’ve ever made.

Allysha was and will always be our rezeki-generator. We were blessed tremendously. Syukur Alhamdulillah.

Experienced pregnancy journey. A lot of mcs, hospital admissions, a minor operation and endless leaves. Countless tests but it was worth it although it does affect my work productivity. But I guess that’s the price that I had to pay for a beautiful delivery.

Highlight of the year – Allysha’s arrival. I don’t think it need further elaboration.

Being a mother to a wonderful baby!

Confinement – Suprisingly, I really enjoyed it even when I knew that I looked freaking ugly and big as a balloon! I got the royal treatment from everybody (thanks to everybody!) and yummy food. And, I have Allysha with me all the time (almost!).

Shared (we still do!) the motherhood journey with my 2 besties. We even make plans for another journey though it’s too early. There’s nothing wrong in planning ahead, rite?

And ohh...my baby sister got engaged in a beautiful ceremony.

There are still a lot of things that I should write here but I just couldn’t recall. I guess I still have my pregnancy brain with me.

Alhamdulillah. The three of us are so thankful for all the blessings and we are hoping for a better future ahead. Amin…

Allysha is in fact her daddy's little girl. My hubby memang really really nak a daughter. Since I was pregnant, his mantra to my tummy was, "Be like daddy!". I guess that works cos Allysha memang photostat muka daddy.

And, my hubby is even happier nowadays cos she prefers her daddy than her mummy. My sister always said that daddy is fun and mummy is boring. I guess Allysha realized that too. I don't mind, really. I'm happy when he's happy. Malam-malam pon daddy yang banyak bangun buat susu and change her diapers. Mummy pulak, is either tak terjaga or buat-buat tak jaga. Naughty me!

I'm sure ultimate dream semua parents adalah mendapat anak yang soleh and solehah. I believe the process starts even before the parents are married. Then, lepas dah kahwin, masa dalam kandungan and of course masa anak-anak membesar.

Like other parents, hubby and I have planned her education ahead. Example, when to start schooling, where and what kind of modules. After doing some research, we decided that we must let her have the Islamic education first. Where? Haven't decided yet since there's like 2 or 3 years more :)

For my reference and others as well, I've compiled some of the doa-doa and surah untuk mendapat anak yang baik. I'm sure banyak lagi doa-doa lain, so if u have any addition please do share.

Doa memohon rahmat, surah Ali-Imran, ayat 8-9.

Doa mohon zuriat yang baik, surah Ali-Imran (ayat 38).

Doa anak kerjakan solat, surah Ibrahim (ayat 40-41).

After Mummy dah pening2 fikir baju ape nak pakai on that day, we finally found a perfect dress. Perfect? Yup. Because Allysha look super cute in it.

Ehh..tak..that's not the dress. The cute little beret that Allysha's wearing will match the dress gorgeously.

On the other note, Mummy thinks that pink suits Allysha very well. Don't you think so?

But now, my family noticed it too.

She will cry and say "air..air.." when she wants milk.

I'm on diet. My way.

I'm on the verge of getting my weight and most importantly my figure back. I'll spill the details later on the magic thingy that i'm using or more precisely; that i'm wearing now.

Smalam, my MIL commented that aku dah nampak kurus. Such comment memang sangat dialu-alukan. Berbaloi-baloi usaha selama nih. Hehe..macam kerja keras sangat. Tapi, tak pon.

Anyways, last night aku nak timbangla berat. Yelah, just to make sure. Betul ke dah turun. Tapi, aku tak jumpa pon scale. Hubby cakap pencuri yang masuk umah arituh dah angkut sekali. What? Dah takde benda lain ke nak curik? Scale cabuk tuh pon nak jugak.

Desperate sungguh si pencuri tu. Tapi, nih bukanla pencuri sebenar umah aku tuh. Aku pulak yang jadi pencurinya; pencuri gambar.

Toys for child development

Toys are good for child development; provided that the toys must be suitable. Allysha had her first toy as early as a few days old courtesy of Mak Ngah D. It's the Octotunes from Lamaze.

Exhibit #1 : Lamaze Octotunes

It's not only colorful, it has a sweet vanilla scent. I wonder whether the scent will last. Squeeze the tentacles and you will be rewarded with tunes. A songbook is included as well! Most importantly, it helps Allysha to nurture and she really love the colour and sound.

Exhibit #2 : Bruin Butterfly Play Gym

Don't you just love the colours? Hopefully this will keep Allysha busy and active. It's meant for 3+ months but we were excited to get it for her. It's to help her develop the muscles needed for rolling over, sitting up and crawling.

Playing helps develop a baby’s social, emotional, language, intellectual, and problem-solving skills. Let them play!

Hari ni, Mummy saya happy sangat. Sebabnya? Anak kesayangan Mummy nih dah masuk 2 bulan!! Mummy nak bawak saya jumpa paed for checkup and immunisation. Cuak jugak saya. Mesti sakit nih...Mummy, kalau taknak pegi boleh tak??

Saya cuba buat muka seposen (tapi tetap chomel!). Konon nak mintak simpati Mummy. Sadly, tak berjaya pon!

Wan Teh pujuk saya dengan susu super sedap yang Mak Su Baby buat. Yummy!!

I'm a proud mother to a super duper cute princess; Nur Allysha Safeeya bt Mohamad Asry. :)

Alhamdulillah, Allsya was born on the 6th of September 2009; 11.47 am at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital. Syukur, semua doa Mummy supaya dipermudahkan urusan semasa bersalin telah dimakbulkan.

There's too many things that I want to write here but due to time constraint, I guess it have to wait.
